As well as the study we visited several clubs and live music
venues, spent time at the beach.
Some of the students took a day trip to Pinar del Rio.
We arranged a visit to a baseball game (a great Cuban spectacle!)
We also visited a ‘fiesta de santos’ a ceremony
for the African deities known as Orisha.
We spent a lot of time socialising and partying with our Cuban
tutors and friends. In fact a great time was had by all.
‘For many years I wanted to experience the real flavour
of Cuba, its music and its way of life. The time we spent in
the sunny patio playing, singing and dancing with Cuban musicians
was a genuine experience of Cuban culture. Very enjoyable!’

‘I loved the vibrancy of life in Havana. Although I did
not take part in the course, I witnessed the music as a central
theme of Cuban culture. Travelling around Cuba with my two-year-old
son Oliver was a joy, the streets felt very safe and the welcome
we received everywhere was warm and open.’
