ACCOMMODATION AND OTHER INFORMATION
Accommodation
We will be staying and studying at Villa Panamericana
in Cojimar, a picturesque fishing village a few miles
east of Havana. Cojimar was made famous by Ernest Hemmingway,
who kept his fishing boat there. It was the inspiration
for his Nobel Prize winning novel ‘the old man and
the sea’
Villa Panamericana is a complex of apartments. Each
apartment has two twin bedrooms, living room with tv.,
dining area, balcony , bathroom with hot and cold running
water and a kitchen with large fridge.
Classes will be held in communal areas around the complex.
Prices
Payment for accommodation should be made by individuals
directly to the hotel upon arrival.
We have negotiated a special group price which
we are passing on to participants.
Each apartment costs $40 usd per night therefore if you want
a twin room to yourself it will cost just $20 usd per night.
For those travelling with partners or close friends
or those wishing to keep the cost down you could share one of
the twin rooms at $10 usd per person per night.
Breakfast is an additional $3.50 per day for those
who want it.
Food
There is a restaurant at Villa Panamericana where they
serve lunch and dinner.
There are several good restaurants, reasonably priced,
in the adjacent street.
There are also shops/markets nearby.
Getting
to and from Havana
There are several buses which run from Cojimar to Havana.
These take 10 to 15 mins and cost less than 1 peso.(2
or 3p).
For those wishing to travel in style an air conditioned
taxi will cost $4/$5 usd
and will take about 5 mins to central Havana and will
carry 4 or 5 people.
